Please contact Julia early when you are considering a portrait, so that time can be scheduled for your project. Julia can advise you on all aspects, including price, using her artistic experience and discuss creative options with you so that your project can come to fruition.

Commissioning a portrait from life

A portrait painted from life is a very special experience, and you should allow time for ten to twenty sittings depending on the size and complexity of the painting you are desiring. (Fewer for a drawing.) Your sittings will take place in Julia’s studio, or a location of mutual convenience with suitable lighting.

Commissioning a portrait from a photograph

The photographs will be taken by Julia, following discussion about poses and lighting. The painting will take between one to four months depending on its complexity and Julia’s work schedule. It is possible to work from pre-existing photos, depending on quality. In the case of posthumous portraits, please provide copies of good photos (not originals) of your loved one, and be assured that the project will be handled sensitively and with compassion.

Payment

A broad price can be given upon initial enquiry based upon size dimensions and your general requirements.

Once an idea, number of sittings and location has been agreed upon, a price can be agreed upon. If accepted, 50% of the price should be paid at commencement of the work with the balance paid upon completion of the artwork.

If you are available to view the artwork in person, in Jersey, this can be arranged. If you are not available to view the artwork in person, extra information about the frame (if applicable) can be sent to you.

If you are enquiring about export, I will quote you a price for this based upon your proposed exact delivery address. Within Jersey, the delivery is free to an agreed address in the island.
